The Bazeilles trail is notable for the superb views it offers. Along the way, the site of the Etang de Bondi, nestling in the fir-tree clad hills, is surprisingly reminiscent of a mountain landscape. For those who wish to extend their walk, the local authority has set up picnic tables and shelters at the Etang de Bondi. Exhibitions are held regularly at the Espace des Arts, located right next to the church, which is also well worth a visit. The frescoes, stained glass windows and contemporary ceramics in the choir are the work of renowned painter Father Bernard Chardon. The two elm sculptures on the high altar are the work of sculptor Alain Legros.
Leaving the village church, walk around the church to appreciate the restoration of the village wash-house, take the road to Javron-les-Chapelles, then climb a track on the right to the village of Grand Houx. Continue straight ahead, then after crossing two roads, enter a wood. Cross the D219 and continue towards Etang de Bondi via the Grésillons valley and its peat bog. After a steep climb towards Le Cruchet, fork right and follow the path to the D264. Immediately cross the road and enter the parcel opposite, taking the path on the right at the boundary. You are now on the former Buttes d'Hardanges military site. Continue straight ahead along this section of the road, which runs alongside the main road for around 300 m, then turn left and continue as far as the hamlets of Ker Avrey and La Féterie. Turn right towards Les Bas Bois, go straight through the village and reach La Laire, then turn right. After a hundred metres, turn right. In the copse, crossing the Ker Avray stream marks the municipal boundary. You're back in Le Ham! Follow the path to the small tarmac road, cross the village of "Les Marcillés" and pass in front of "La Motte" before reaching the village and church, the starting point for this walk.
