Located at the gateway to the Coëvrons-Mayenne region of art and history, the Prehistory Museum invites you to discover the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods through archaeological collections found in the Mayenne department. In particular, the museum presents the discoveries made on the Erve Valley site, particularly in the caves, thanks to recent excavations.
For thousands of years, human presence and activity have depended on fluctuations in climate and changes in flora and fauna. This close link between humans and nature is explained throughout the exhibition, and in more detail in the temporary section entitled "Humans and the climate from prehistoric times to the present day".
A range of interactive features offer visitors the chance to immerse themselves in prehistory, including digital content, a digital tour of the Mayenne-Sciences cave and a video game.
