Moulin de la Petite Bavouze - MÉNIL

The Moulin de la Petite Bavouze was built between 1862 and 1864 during work to canalise the Mayenne. It bears witness to the milling activity that developed on the river over the centuries. Contrary to custom, it was not dismantled when it ceased operating in 1999, and still contains several generations of equipment, including the English-style mechanisms typical of 19th-century water mills.
Selected by the Bern Mission in 2019, the Moulin de la Petite Bavouze is currently undergoing restoration work with the support of the Fondation du Patrimoine, sponsors and local authorities.

- how the mill worked in the past
- its history, closely linked to that of the Maurice family who ran it between 1775 and 1999,
- the mill as a witness to the development of navigation on the Mayenne.
