A former medieval priory, the Longue-Fougères manor house was converted into a leisure residence by the powerful de Bouillé family in the 16th century. The manor house is a remarkable example of the early Renaissance in Mayenne.
The building was listed as a historic monument on 19 December 1985.
The chapel was built at the same time as the manor house.

The manor house is open to the public for certain events: concerts, Heritage Days, etc.
