Each of Mathilde Lopez's objects defies the material, oscillating between soft and hard, static and animated. These creations come to life through coloured pencil drawings, are transformed into oversized textile objects, then come to life in space thanks to ingenious tricks of the hand. By hijacking the codes of everyday objects, the designer invites us to question their uses and to take a fresh, facetious look at them. For the exhibition at the Centre d'Art Contemporain, Mathilde Lopez is transforming domestic archetypes, imagining a house chapel where the floor becomes the ceiling.
