A graduate of the National School of the Arts in Havana, the prodigious drummer, producer and composer Michael OLIVERA is a leading figure in jazz and contemporary Cuban music. After more than 60 albums and collaborations with artists such as Quincy JONES, Alfredo RODRIGUEZ and Richard BONA, Michael presents the Cuban Jazz Syndicate, a group that brings together a sumptuous array of Cuban musicians.
The Cuban Jazz Syndicate's music is strongly influenced by Cuban rhythms and Yoruba culture, but is also influenced by jazz. Propelled by a volcanic rhythm section featuring Alejandra LÓPEZ on double bass, sumptuous brass and imperial piano, this 6tet takes us on a one-way trip to the famous island of the West Indies.
The concerts in Meslay-du-Maine will take place at the Salle Socioculturelle,
Opening acts will be jazz workshops from local music schools,
A record fair will be held on Thursday 14 May from 2pm to 6pm in the grounds of Meslay-du-Maine town hall,
All our concerts are free for our audiences aged 0 to 16 (please bring proof of age),
Our audiences aged 16 to 26 have a reduced rate of €13 for each paying concert (Tuesday 27/05, Friday 30/05 and Saturday 31/05 - bring proof of age),
PASS 3 concerts for Saturday 09/05, Tuesday 12/05 and Saturday 16/05: €52 - entitles the holder to a special rate for cinema screenings.
